GDPR and Privacy Notices

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

We have always followed strict guidelines with regards to any personal data we hold and how it is used.

From May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaced the Data Protection Act 1998.

Although the GDPR was not focussed particularly on schools it requires all public authorities and businesses to identify why we store personal information, to audit the information we already hold and take a ‘data protection by design and default’ approach to personal data. It also introduces new individual rights relating to personal data.

Under data protection law, individuals have a right to be informed about how the school uses any personal data that we hold about them. We comply with this right by providing ‘privacy notices’ (sometimes called ‘fair processing notices’) to individuals where we are processing their personal data. These privacy notices explain how we collect, store and use personal data about individuals we employ, teach or otherwise engage with, at our school.

All our privacy notices can be viewed below along with our Data Protection Policy, Freedom of Information Policy, Records Management Policy and the Information and the Record Management Society's Toolkit for Schools.
